Just returned home from a shortened trip to LBL. I'm from the Chicagoland area and chiggers is something new to me. After a week of caching, I just couldn't enter the woods again. Never been chewed up so much in my life and I like to think that I'm a woodsy type of cacher.

Anyway, I didn't come here to tell my tale of woe, but rather to thank you all for the great caches I managed to find. I nabbed 50+ hides while there and also drove over and did the Virgin Falls cache on my birthday.

Their sure is a lot of history with the LBL and some of you did a wonderful job in your write-ups. Then their are also the terrain 5 and the others that have been around for quite some time. Funny how my little Escort can get me around those backroads. Sure would be fun to travel them in a jeep!

I'm way behind on my log writing so you might not see me pop up right away, but I'll try while the memory is fresh. I knew I would like it here as I have usually hunted GEO.JOE's caches around the Shawnee area.

Well again...thank you all.

PS...those bird caches alongside the road were a welcome relief at times =)

Hello KroBro, Happy Birthday. Glad to hear you enjoyed the area caches. You were a little early on your trip, we just got home from camping and caches at LBL this weekend. There was an event there on the 17th and we had our annual campout at Energy Lake this past weekend. There were a few times I thought I was going to melt and my ankles are covered in chigger bites as well, but it was fun in the end.

I was up in your area a couple weeks ago, I went with my wife to drive one of her elderly clients to a family wedding at the IL Beach State Park. I looked up some of your caches and was hoping to grab some of your caches and return the cache hunting favor : ), but not having our own car and being there for work, I didn't get to run on the schedule I wanted to or stop where I wanted to : (.

Thanks for those great comments KroBro. I'm glad that you had a good time while down in our neck of the woods. If I ever find myself up your direction, I'll definitely keep my eye open towards some of your caches. If you ever find yourself down this direction again, be sure to let one of us know. I'm always looking for an excuse to head out and play in LBL (although the temperatures lately haven't been cooperating with that statement).
